Family Matters

Jeffery,

We have begun an analysis for our old business and have deemed there to be a threat. Your marketing agency has been working with us to promote our affordable electricity since I joined the company. As such, I wanted to inform you that we have noticed a potential shortage which will drive the cost of oil produced electricity up in the future. This will be a minor bump, but it will affect us for a long period of time. As you know, when our prices increase, other technologies are deployed to mitigate the increase. Thus, you will need to begin looking into a new marketing strategy that doesn’t focus on the cost of our product.

Furthermore, I was reviewing a competitor that could affect us unnecessarily. With the price of our electricity positioned to rise in the future, energy produced by nuclear reactors could prove to be a better alternative. Now, my team and I have been looking at this threat since it broke the horizon. It is clear, this alternative is problematic to the people of the United States, but our engineers believe that those could be solved with time and money. With this realization, we have contacted the coal lobby and they stated that they were also concerned. We have a few ideas, and all of us in the industry hope you would be able to make them come to light. This plan needs to work for generations, so please, realize that it must be timeless.

With that in mind, our idea is that we focus on the potential dangers of the nuclear power. Now, we have known for a long time that fear mongering is a poor tactic as it can lead to investigations – you taught us this. However, if a solution was put forth, a solution that isn’t a credible threat to our business, we know that the populous will choose this over nuclear power. Therefore, we were thinking that you could hold a rally and focus the rally on clean solar and wind power. Based on the materials needed, initial calculations, and available funding, we don’t believe either will be able to produce one percent of the total electricity produced by oil and coal. However, this will hopefully pull funding from nuclear power and funnel it to these inefficient models. We thought of a rally because people of like minds will be introduced to the technologies by experts and begin a movement. We look forward to hearing your thoughts in six months at our next meeting.

By the way, I hope the kids are well. We will need to have dinner, both of our families, as soon as possible. They grow up so quick! It will be good for Elizabeth and Andrew. With them both going to Harvard, they can be one another’s confidant during these soon to be trying times.

Sincerely,

Thomas
