Haiku – On Pickling and Romance

Pickled vegetables
the Farmer labours in the field
scrunched face, sour taste

~Theodore Maestranzi

I love pickled vegetables.  They are vital to the history of humanity.  Without pickling techniques, the winter months would have been incredibly hard.  Yet, they tend to have an astringent taste and can be sour on the lips of the unindoctrinated, but once you fall in love with them, they are amazing.  In this Haiku, I was focused on the look someone gets when they run into a new trait/tick they see in their lover.  It causes them to pucker up because they are not sure if they like it.  But just like pickled vegetables, that trait was created over time and you may just end up loving it.  So don’t be to rash, wade in, and see if you enjoy your partners new thing.
