My server is currently experience a DOS or DDOS attack (roughly a day now). Luckily, I have some things in place to keep these from affecting the service. However, some of the attempts are getting through and it is leading to some performance degradation. It has slowed since I began blacklisting IP addresses. Please, use anti-virus software, otherwise you could be assisting malicious people.
Read MoreToday, I wanted to introduce everyone to the working title of my newest manuscript: Bohr’s Bathos. Bohr’s Bathos, is possibly the hardest writing I have done till this date. The story is rich, fully outlined, and varied. There are a lot of events that must happen and getting to each of these events in the structure I have chosen is difficult. Normally, if I sit for a day, I can write roughly 10,000 – 20,000 words (depending on how many detailed outlines have been prepared prior to me sitting down). The max amount of words I have written in a day for Bohr’s Bathos is 6500. With each chapter, I have to go and add further notes. Due to this constant expansion of information, my writing space is full of giant pieces of paper with vital information, and I am beginning to feel like a crazy person whenever I sit down to write. Nonetheless, it is time for another session. At the writing of this post, the manuscript is sitting at 18,701 words. Hopefully, I can beat my previous ceiling.
Read MoreIt is about time that I focused on another short story. This time, I have chosen Similarities. Similarities is a piece that was designed around trying to write two separate narrators in a single piece. What I wanted was two points of view that were third person and describing two separate events. The experiment here would eventually go on and be fully fleshed out in Death by Comedy – my fifth manuscript – where I use five narrators to tell a story. While the voices in this piece are very similar, Death by Comedy experiences five unique voices with five completely different backgrounds. In this piece, there is also an underlying criticism which is explained below.
Read MoreToday, I will be highlighting Redirect. I remember working on this piece because the piece just didn’t seem possible. It took three rewrites to get it to where it is on the website, and I am not even sure if it truly does what it needs to do for the reader. Personally, after rereading it, I think it hit home more than I originally thought. Sometimes, my shorty work appears preachy to me, and I wanted this to be more subtle – I don’t think I hit the subtle parts very well. However, there is some throwbacks to other works and naming styles. For more info on the piece, continue reading but it will be semi full of spoilers. I suggest you read the piece then check out the explanation: Click me for Redirect.
Read MoreHouse of Bourbon was the first of my experimental pieces. The following chronological piece – which is still in review for a contest – Three Pills, took what I was testing in this piece to the next level. All of the work in House of Bourbon and Three Pills became vital to me during Tesla’s Travels, where I utilized what I had learned through these pieces to drive home a fundamental sub plot of the manuscript. I don’t want to give much away, so here is the link: House of Bourbon. If you are interested in more details about the piece, continue reading, but you need to understand that the following is full of explanation.
Read MoreI am exhausted so this will be short. We are officially back online. The short story section has been completely remodeled and has a whole new section: Semi-New Short Stories. Inside of this section are 12 unreleased short stories for your reading pleasure. I will be doing features and write ups about each new piece over the next two weeks. So expect a couple of emails. I also have to find a blender to take a very specific picture for one of the short stories – Solutions – so you will notice there is a weird gap in the page. I apologize but I wanted to get this all up before I begin actually writing the sixth manuscript. Also, I need to update the manuscript page. I did delete links to further information on manuscripts as I don’t have much to add there. Either way, enjoy some new pieces and look for the featured emails that will be coming out soon!
Sincerely,
Theodore J Maestranzi
